| Avi is having some serious work done on her house, including removing the old flooring and replacing it with hardwood. The construction uproar was making her three cats crazy, so she asked me if they could stay at my house for a few weeks. On arrival, they started to explore the place, and the most adventurous one climbed into the spice cupboard, just to see what was up with that. Seeing him there reminded me of a picture of me in a cabinet with a cat at our house at 113 Joanne Lane in DeKalb when I was a year and a half old. I take a certain satisfaction in the recurrence of events like these in my life. Perhaps it's somehow related to my enjoyment of predictable routine. But sometimes it's good to have a change, and I'm more than ready to discard the routines of the last year and return to those of the time before the plague. |
