Staying at home

Here's an update on life at the ancestral home in the days of the virus:

I'm staying at home, except for food shopping, and a daily run or a walk with Avi. I've started wearing a mask when I go into shops, though they haven't been too crowded, and people do keep their distance. And I've started moving things around for פסח , though it's going to be much less of deal this year than usual.

The minyan is running a full schedule of weekday services on Zoom. Attendance is a lot better than usual, and people hang around for a while afterwards just to talk. They're hungry to see each others' faces.

At home I'm studying and reading, as well as getting started on פסח . I make a list every morning and generally get to almost everything on it.

I cooked something new yesterday: bitter gourd curry. It's something (technically a fruit, but really more a vegetable) that they have in Sri Lanka, and you can get it in the stores on Devon, so I decided to try it. It was excellent; it is indeed bitter, but not unpleasantly so, and the recipe calls for coconut milk, which makes everything taste great.

Today it was warm and sunny, and in the garden, daffodils that Eema planted have just opened.
