| has come. I hesitate to write a blog post when I have so little to say, but since I have been silent for some time, I think I should give a sign of life. I have spent the last few months here at home, with the exception of a day trip with Tamar to Milwaukee for my nephew Nathaniel’s high school graduation, and a long weekend with Avi in New York for Daniel and Morgan’s civil wedding. Avi and I stayed on the Upper West Side, and besides celebrating, we walked in the park, rode the subway, and looked at the mummies at the Met. During the summer I have continued with the monthly treatments for my follicular lymphoma, and now only one of the six is left. Since the beginning of treatment, back in April, I have had a couple of scans, and they show that things are working well, so the prognosis continues to be good. Of course, given what happened with Bev, as well as my general penchant for gloom and doom, my optimism is a bit tempered. There have been some minor side effects, but I have been able to continue running two or three times a week throughout. Being in reasonably good shape seems to be a big help in withstanding chemo. Besides my daily regimen of coffee and languages, I continue my schedule of Sinhala and Catalan lessons, and after a summer off, the Conservative Yeshiva talmud class has begun again. All of that is on Zoom, but I have also had the pleasure of studying Tanakh in person with some friends. As usual for the last forty years, I am organizing the High Holiday services at Mah Tovu. So let me take this opportunity to beg pardon of any of you whom I may have wronged in the last year. And may we all be inscribed for a good, healthy, and fruitful new year! |
