 Back Among the Catalans

Between one thing (remodeling my kitchen) and another (Covid) I hadn't been able to make my usual annual visits, and I was missing this place and its people. So here I am in Barcelona again, getting towards the end of my first visit in three years.

Though I've been speaking a lot of Catalan, this trip was much more about visiting with people here. In particular, I spent three days with my friends Josep and Maria Teresa at their country place. The house is in a district called the Garrotxa. which is a very beautiful and fascinating corner of Catalunya with mountains, valleys, and medieval villages.

I was also able to spend a couple of days talking linguistics and exploring Barcelona and Terrassa with my friend Carles Murcia.

While this may be true of many other places, Catalunya is absolutely packed with beauty and history. Everywhere you turn there are things that beg for you to stop and look at them. This is a great corner of the world, and I am very glad that I have had the chance to get to know it.
